Grant's Playground at Bloomington Lutheran School - Bloomington, Minnesota

Make-A-Wish Minnesota’s mission is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Kids can choose how they want to fulfill their one true wish – a wish to be, to go, to meet, to have or to give. Grant, a boy from Minnesota who was battling leukemia, used his wish to give a playground to his school. During his treatment, Grant fell even more in love with playing outside on playgrounds and wanted to share that love with his school friends through his wish. The process of designing and building this play environment resulted in an incredible space where children can learn, socialize, develop and have fun together through play – but it also built more than that – it built a sense of community and an understanding that together, we can do more. This space will stand for years as a testament to the strength and generosity of Grant but also as a reminder that community is really the heart of everything we do.
